Wrapping Bat Grips for RH and LH Batters

One reason some hitting instructors teach hitters to line up their knuckles is because these knuckles tend to move toward each other during the swing (I'm not a proponent of this). It is usually the bottom hand during the swing that moves a bit counter clockwise. This has some implications for wrapping the grip around the bat handle. And, left handed hitters need their grip wrapped opposite of right handed hitters.

I didn't figure this out on my own. I called Easton to order another grip on a bat used by a lefty for less than a week. They told me to wrap it counter clockwise, starting at the knob (and looking at the knob) for a left handed hitter. For Easton grips, this means the "genuine leather" lettering on the grip will be upside down (at least for the ones I have). I assume they wrap their bats for RH hitters at the factory. So, if you have a LH hitter having trouble with the grip staying on, try a counter clockwise wrapping.
